Scott L. Wilson was named chief investment officer of Washington University Investment Management Co., the St. Louis-based university announced in a news release on Thursday.
He will oversee the investment management of the university's $7.5 billion endowment effective Dec. 1. He will replace Kimberly G. Walker, who resigned on Dec. 31 after 10 years in that position. Her plans were not known.
Eric Upin, managing director and head of portfolio strategies at Makena Capital Management, WUIMCO board member and Washington University board of trustees member, will continue to serve as interim CIO until Mr. Wilson's arrival.
Mr. Wilson is currently CIO of Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, where he oversees the investment management of its $2 billion endowment.
Grinnell College spokeswoman Lisa Lacher said the college is currently finalizing details of a succession plan.
