Sumit Sasidharan was named managing director and head of real estate debt capital markets for Ares Management's real estate group, said spokeswoman Sarah Troutt.
He replaces Precilla Torres, who is taking on new responsibilities, Ms. Troutt said. She did not have a new title for Ms. Torres.
Mr. Sasidharan will manage real estate debt opportunities for Ares, including through Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp., a $3 billion real estate investment trust.
Mr. Sasidharan was managing director at Annaly Capital Management.
Officials at Annaly Capital could not be immediately reached for further information.
Ares Management has $104 billion in assets under management.
