Peter Tirp has resigned as chief investment officer of the $3.9 billion Kern County Employees' Retirement Association, Bakersfield, Calif., Mr. Tirp said in an email.
Mr. Tirp, who joined the pension fund as CIO in September 2011, said he plans to remain in the industry.
A pension fund news release said the board plans to discuss a search process for a potential replacement in the coming weeks, and in the interim, general investment consultant Verus Advisory and private markets consultant Albourne America will assist in investment decisions. Mr. Tirp was the pension fund's sole investment staff.
