San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System approved four commitments to private equity funds totaling up to $185 million in closed session in June and July, according to a report by William Coaker Jr., chief investment officer, to be presented at the $23 billion pension fund's meeting Wednesday.
At its June 14 meeting, the board committed up to $50 million to Asia Alternatives Capital Partners V, a private equity fund of funds managed by Asia Alternatives Management; and up to $50 million to Insight Venture Partners X, a growth equity fund.
At the pension fund's July 12 meeting, the board approved a commitment up to $50 million in Castlelake V, a distressed debt fund. Among the areas in which the fund plans to invest are global aviation, and distressed assets in Europe and the U.S. Also at the July 12 meeting, the board committed $35 million to Canaan XI, an early stage venture capital fund managed by Canaan Partners.
The pension fund's private equity portfolio totals $3.3 billion.
