Maureen H. Westgard was named executive director of the National Council on Teacher Retirement, effective Jan. 1, 2018, said Jill Bachus, NCTR president.
She will replace Meredith Williams, who is retiring at the end of the year, Ms. Bachus said.
Ms. Westgard is currently director of the $18.1 billion Louisiana Teachers' Retirement System, Baton Rouge. She will retire from the pension fund as of Dec. 31, said TRSL spokeswoman Lisa Honore. Recommendations on steps on replacing Ms. Westgard will be made at the Sept. 7-8 board meeting.
The National Council on Teacher Retirement is an independent association dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of U.S. public school teachers' retirement systems.
