Vincent Chaigneau was named head of research at Generali Investments, said a spokesman for the firm.
Mr. Chaigneau will join Aug. 11 and be based in Paris. He will report to Santo Borsellino, CEO at the firm, and will manage a team of 25 economists, credit and equity analysts working in Paris; Cologne, Germany; and Trieste, Italy.
He also will lead the firm's group insurance research team, which covers insurance and financial services markets around the world, and provides proprietary forecasts, industry intelligence and ad-hoc in-depth studies, said a news release. That team has 10 analysts.
The research team was led on an interim basis by Mr. Borsellino, said the spokesman. Previously, Klaus Wiener, who left at the end of 2015, was head of research.
"Research is a vital part of the asset management business, as it helps us shape our investment strategies, keep risk under control and ultimately deliver the returns our clients expect from us,' said Mr. Borsellino.
Generali Investments has €452 billion ($527.5 billion) in assets under management.
