Doc Horn joined Pictet Asset Management as head of total-return equities, said a spokesman.
The position is new. Mr. Horn oversees seven long/short equity teams based in Geneva, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong.
"(Mr. Horn) joins a business that is one of the 10 largest UCITS hedge fund managers in Europe and among the region's top 20 hedge fund managers. In a low-return environment, his appointment reflects our commitment to total-return strategies," said Philippe de Weck, chief investment officer-equities, in a news release.
Mr. Horn had been managing director and head of global fundamental market-neutral long/short equity strategies at UBS O'Connor. A spokeswoman was not available to comment about a replacement.
