Timothy Viezer was named chief investment officer of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans, spokeswoman Lisa Martin said in an email.
It is a new position. Mr. Viezer manages the investments of the board's $216 million pension fund.
Mr. Viezer was previously investment director at the offices of North Carolina Treasurer Dale Folwell. He oversaw the Raleigh-based $92.2 billion North Carolina Retirement Systems' $40 billion public and hedged equity team, Ms. Martin said.
Officials at Mr. Folwell's office could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
