Sam Austin was named a partner and member of NEPC's public fund team, a spokeswoman for the investment consulting firm said in an email.
It is a new position; Mr. Austin starts Aug. 7.
Mr. Austin will report to Kevin M. Leonard, partner and head of NEPC's public fund team, which consults on more than $500 billion in assets, the spokeswoman said. NEPC has $954 billion in total assets under advisement.
Mr. Austin was a senior vice president and an investment committee member at asset management firm FIS Group. A search firm is assisting with finding Mr. Austin's replacement, an FIS spokesman said in an email.
