Nathan Sheets was named chief economist and head of global macroeconomic research at PGIM Fixed Income, said spokeswoman Claire Currie.
He replaces Jurgen Odenius, who remains with the firm as economic counselor. He will continue to cover the European region as well as enhance the firm's country analytical framework, Ms. Currie said.
Mr. Sheets will oversee PGIM Fixed Income's global macroeconomic research team and lead the formulation of the global macroeconomic outlook. He also will be a member of the senior investment team and report to Arvind Rajan, head of global and macro at PGIM Fixed Income.
Mr. Sheets was the undersecretary of the U.S. Treasury for international affairs, representing the U.S. government on international economic policy.
PGIM Fixed Income had $654 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
