Michael Mazzola was named interim CEO of the Institutional Limited Partners Association pending the hiring of a permanent CEO, said Emily Mendell, spokeswoman, in an email.
Mr. Mazzola was chairman of ILPA's board of directors from 2012 through 2015. He recently retired as senior vice president and head of alternative investments at MetLife.
Jennifer Choi, ILPA's managing director of industry affairs, has been managing the trade organization's day-to-day operations since the June departure of former CEO Peter Freire.
"We are thrilled to have Mike step into this significant leadership role at such an important time for ILPA," said Tanya Carmichael, chairwoman of ILPA's board, in a news release quoting an email to members. "As our organization continues to grow in scale and scope, we could not ask for a more seasoned and thoughtful professional to guide our team as we move forward in our search for a permanent CEO."
ILPA will launch a full search this summer and is expected to hire a search firm in the next month.
Ms. Choi will continue in her role as managing director of industry affairs. Mr. Freire will remain available as an adviser to help with Mr. Mazzola's transition.
