William Harmon has been hired by Voya Financial as president of retirement corporate 401(k).
It is a new position, spokesman Joseph Loparco said in an email. Mr. Harmon, who joined the company Friday, reports to Charles Nelson, CEO of retirement.
Mr. Harmon will oversee "all aspects of the corporate 401(k) market, including sales, relationship management, strategy and profitable growth for all segments of the market — from small- and midsized companies to some of the nation's largest corporate employers," a news release said.
"Previously, our small-mid corporate and large corporate markets were managed as two separate segments," Mr. Loparco wrote. "They are now consolidated into a single corporate 401(k) market under common leadership."
Mr. Nelson said in the news release, "Bill brings a proven track record of building strong, high-performing teams — and driving profitable growth."
Mr. Harmon had been senior vice president, core markets, for Empower Retirement. He was in charge of the "core market sales segment, which includes sales, client retention and financial results," according to Empower's website.
"A search for his successor is underway," Stephen Gawlik, an Empower spokesman, wrote in an email.
