Harrison Street Real Estate Capital raised $1.16 billion, closing its $950 million Harrison Street Real Estate Partners VI and a $205 million co-investment vehicle, spokesman Nathaniel Garnick said in an email.
The U.S. opportunistic real estate fund exceeded its $850 million fundraising target. Harrison Street focuses on the education, health-care and storage sectors.
Harrison's Street's sixth fund received commitments from 65 institutional investors; roughly 70% are investors in previous Harrison Street funds. Investors in the fund included the $25.6 billion Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin; $22.2 billion San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System; and $14.8 billion New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association, Santa Fe.
