Lance Rosen will join absolute-return manager BlueMountain Capital Management in the new position of head of equities effective July 10, said spokesman Shree Dhond.
"The discretionary equity strategy has existed for over six years. We are looking to grow and diversify the strategy, and have created the new role and hired Lance to lead that effort," Mr. Dhond wrote in an email.
Mr. Rosen was most recently president and chief investment officer at hedge fund manager Kinrose Capital. He left Kinrose in 2015.
BlueMountain currently has about $2 billion in its discretionary equities investment strategy, in addition to nearly $1 billion in a systematic equities strategy and a $2 billion global equity volatility strategy. The firm has a total of $22 billion in assets under management.
