Christian Kopf was named head of fixed income at Union Investment, a spokesman said.
On Sept. 1, Mr. Kopf will replace Frank Engels, who became head of multiasset portfolio management at Union at the start of this year.
Mr. Kopf will be responsible for fixed-income management and assets of around €62 billion ($69 billion). He will also join Union's investment committee.
"We have recruited a highly experienced person as head of fixed income and foreign exchange. (Mr.) Kopf's in-depth macro-strategy expertise, international reputation and excellent network will further strengthen our already outstanding position in the fixed income market segment," Bjorn Jesch, head of portfolio management, said in a news release.
Mr. Kopf will join from Spinnaker Capital in London, where he worked as a partner and head of the global investment committee. A spokesman was not available to comment on a replacement by press time.
