Steven Desmyter was named head of responsible investment at Man Group, said a spokeswoman.
The position is new. Mr. Desmyter also becomes chairman of Man Group's responsible investment committee, which oversees firmwide responsible investment policies. The committee also leads efforts to educate and support each of Man Group's investment management businesses in adopting responsible investment approaches that are appropriate for their strategies.
Mr. Desmyter leads the $88.7 billion manager's focus on incorporating environmental, social and corporate governance considerations into investment decision-making, said a news release by the firm.
Mr. Desmyter will also continue in his role as head of sales across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Man Group also appointed Jason Mitchell to the new role of sustainability strategist. Mr. Mitchell takes on the role in addition to his current role on Man GLG's European and international equity teams. He is responsible for developing strategy, organization and methodology to underpin Man Group's ESG efforts. Mr. Mitchell has chaired the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment hedge fund advisory committee since 2014.
