Mark Speciale was hired as head of institutional sales, Asia-Pacific in Singapore at BNP Paribas Asset Management.
The position is new, said a BNP Paribas spokesman. A news release Wednesday said Mr. Speciale will focus on strengthening existing partnerships and building new ones with central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies in the region. He will report to Ligia Torres, the firm's Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific CEO.
Mr. Speciale comes to BNP from BNY Mellon Investment Management, where he served as head of institutional sales, Asia-Pacific, a spokeswoman for BNY Mellon said. She didn't immediately say whether that role had been filled.
Separately, Simeon Tsonev was named currencies portfolio manager in the emerging markets fixed-income team at BNP Paribas Asset Management in London.
The position is new. Mr. Tsonev will be responsible for alpha generation from emerging markets currencies.
Mr. Tsonev was previously vice president of foreign exchange options trading at Credit Suisse, where he focused on emerging markets. A spokesman was not available to comment about a replacement.
