Martyn Gilbey was named U.K. country head at Franklin Templeton Investments, said a spokesman.
Mr. Gilbey will replace Ian Wilkins who left the firm in December to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Gilbey, who will join Aug. 1, will lead the local team to further develop the firm's institutional businesses in the U.K. and offshore territories. He will report to Vivek Kudva, managing director, Europe, Middle East, Africa and India at Franklin Templeton Investments.
“With over 24 years of financial services experience, 18 of which have been in investment management specifically, (Mr. Gilbey) brings a wealth of expertise to grow our retail and institutional presence. I look forward to welcoming (him) on board and working closely with him on further expanding our business in the U.K. market,” Mr. Kudva said in a news release.
Mr. Gilbey left Aberdeen Asset Management earlier this month, where he was head of U.K. distribution. A spokesman for Aberdeen said Hans Benenga, global head of business development, had taken on his responsibilities.
