Thijs Aaten was appointed to the board of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, the first member with pension fund expertise.
Mr. Thijs is a managing director of treasury and trading at APG Asset Management, which runs the assets of €402 billion ($438 billion) Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP, Heerlen, Netherlands.
ISDA said in January it will expand its board in the second quarter of the year in efforts to broaden the expertise of its members and diversify the market sectors covered.
“ISDA continues to expand the composition of the board to ensure it represents a wide range of perspectives from different types of derivatives users. Long-term investment funds play a critical role in the economy and are increasingly at the heart of the global policy debate, so (Mr. Aaten) will bring an important perspective to the ISDA board,” Eric Litvack, ISDA chairman, said in a news release.
