Interest growing for emerging market funds

Since the end of 2015 mutual fund assets of U.S. dollar-hedged emerging-market bond funds have grown 29.3%, with an averaged a 5.7% growth rate on a year-over-year basis. Local currency bond fund assets have declined 10.2% over the same period with an average monthly 30.5% year-over-year growth rate. The category has seen the more rapid declines subside in recent months and has added about $600 million in assets since the start of 2017.

The much larger, and more mainstream, multisector bond category has grown by 17.6% since the end of 2015 at an average monthly year-over-year rate of 2.4%.
