New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, committed a total of $875 million in March, said a monthly transaction report on the website of Thomas P. DiNapoli, the state comptroller and sole trustee of the $186 billion pension fund.
The pension fund committed $350 million to open-end core real estate fund UBS Trumbull Property Fund, managed by UBS Realty Investors; $275 million to KKR Asian Fund III, a buyout fund managed by KKR & Co.; and $200 million to GreenOak U.S. Parallel III-A, a parallel fund that invests with GreenOak U.S. III, a real estate fund managed by GreenOak Real Estate.
Of the three managers, the report noted that the pension fund has an existing relationship with KKR. Most recently, the pension fund committed $600 million to buyout fund KKR Americas Fund XI in 2016.
The pension fund also made two commitments through its emerging manager program: $30 million to One Rock Capital Partners II through Pioneer Partnership Fund A II, managed by program partner HarbourVest Horizon, and $20 million to Luminate Capital Partners I through M2 NY Pioneer Fund, managed by program partner Muller & Monroe Asset Management.
