Joseph Linhares was named head of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Russell Investments, said a spokeswoman.
Mr. Linhares joined Tuesday and replaces Pascal Duval. Mr. Duval launched Duval Capital LLP in January, according to Companies House. Further details were not available.
Mr. Linhares reports to Russell CEO Len Brennan and is a member of the firm’s executive committee. He is based in London.
“There are significant growth opportunities in multiasset investing globally, as investors look for ways to achieve their investment outcomes, while also managing risk. Nowhere is this opportunity clearer than in EMEA, which has long embraced a multiasset approach, and where Russell Investments has a strong leadership position,” said Mr. Brennan in a news release.
Russell Investments has $266 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Linhares was global head of platinum accounts at BlackRock. A spokesman said the platinum client program has since been combined with another program and renamed the strategic partner program. Jessica Tan leads this function globally, he said. Mr. Linhares spent 16 years at the firm in the U.S. and EMEA, including as managing director and head of the EMEA iShares business.
