Arkansas Teacher Retirement System, Little Rock, invested or committed up to $175 million total to two managers, said George Hopkins, director, in an email.
The $14.4 billion pension fund invested up to $150 million in Parametric Portfolio Associates’ Global Defensive Equity Fund, “an opportunistic/alternative fund that uses options based on global markets designed to enhance the returns of the (fund’s) underlying global benchmark,” said materials prepared for the board meeting last week.
The pension fund also committed up to $25 million to Clarion Development Ventures IV. The closed-end opportunistic real estate fund managed by Clarion Partners focuses on “repositioning and redeveloping underperforming properties,” according to the board meeting materials.
Investment consultant Aon Hewitt Investment Consulting assisted with the hires.
