Chris Newson joined Investec Asset Management as director of private markets, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Newson works across the firm’s Africa private markets platform, covering private equity, direct credit and infrastructure debt. His duties include overseeing the developmental Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, which is run by Investec Asset Management.
“Confidence is returning to several markets against a backdrop of general economic stability and recovery. Sophisticated investors are looking through the cycle to cheap currencies, low entry valuations, high yields and compelling growth drivers, and we look forward to navigating these opportunities in partnership with our clients,” Domenico Ferrini, co-chief investment officer at Investec Asset Management, said in a news release.
Mr. Newson was CEO for Africa at Standard Bank. A spokesman was not available to comment on a replacement by press time.
