Christopher Woida was named managing director, index solutions at Axioma, spokeswoman Courtney Chennells said.
The position is new. Mr. Woida will oversee Axioma's index business, responsible for strategy, development and sales in the company's indexing initiative. He will report to CEO Sebastian Ceria.
Mr. Woida was an investment strategist and a founding member of the factor-based strategies group at BlackRock. BlackRock spokesman Ed Sweeney declined to comment on whether he was replaced.
Axioma provides enterprise market risk and portfolio analytics to financial institutions that include asset managers, pension plans and hedge funds.
