James McDonald was named director of enforcement at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the agency announced Thursday.
Mr. McDonald replaces Aitan Goelman, who resigned effective Feb. 3.
The appointment was made by acting CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo, according to a news release from the CFTC.
Mr. McDonald was assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, serving in its public corruption unit.
