Charlie Shaffer was named managing director and head of institutional distribution at Voya Investment Management, spokesman Kristopher Kagel said.
He replaced Bas NieuweWeme, who left the firm in May to join PGIM Fixed Income as global head of product management and distribution.
Mr. Shaffer will oversee all aspects of Voya Investment Management's institutional business, including setting the strategic direction across U.S. and international sales, consultant relations, RFPs, client service and relationship management. He will be based in New York and report to Shaun Mathews, senior managing director and head of the client group.
Mr. Shaffer was global head of distribution at Credit Suisse Asset Management. He will not be replaced, said a Credit Suisse spokesman, who added that distribution is managed directly in the various regions.
Voya Investment Management manages more than $211 billion in assets as of Dec. 31.
