Vijay Advani was named CEO of Nuveen, formerly known as TIAA Global Asset Management, spokeswoman Maria Gonzales said.
Effective April 21, Mr. Advani will replace Robert G. Leary, who is leaving the company to join the Olayan Group as global CEO. Mr. Leary will remain with the firm until April 21 and advise Mr. Advani to ensure a smooth transition, Ms. Gonzales said.
Mr. Advani will be responsible for all of Nuveen’s business globally. He will also become a member of the TIAA executive committee
Mr. Advani joined TIAA Global Asset Management on Jan. 9 as president and chief operating officer; he will retain those responsibilities. The firm was renamed Nuveen on Jan. 23.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Advani was co-president of Franklin Templeton Investments. Co-president Jennifer M. Johnson continued as president, spokeswoman Pholida Barclay said.
Nuveen had $882 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
