Amy C. McGarrity was named chief investment officer at the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association, Denver, said Katie Kaufmanis, spokeswoman for the $44 billion retirement system, in an email.
Ms. McGarrity, who starts Friday, replaces Jennifer C. Paquette, who retired in February. Ms. McGarrity was formerly a deputy CIO at the pension fund before leaving last year to join William Blair & Co. as a global equities product specialist.
No one replaced Ms. McGarrity as deputy CIO at PERA, and it will be up to Ms. McGarrity as to whether the position will be filled, Ms. Kaufmanis wrote.
A search is underway at William Blair for Ms. McGarrity’s replacement, said spokesman Tony Zimmer in an email.
Executive search firm EFL Associates assisted with the search.
