The $46 billion Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System terminated two active domestic equity managers at a Feb. 17 board of trustees meeting.
Terminated for performance concerns were Apex Capital Management, which managed $118 million for the Springfield-based fund, and Mesirow Financial for an $83 million allocation, said David Urbanek, a TRS spokesman.
Mark Harrell, senior vice president business development at Apex, did not respond to an email seeking comment on the termination.
Deborah S. Krieps, a Mesirow managing director, declined comment.
