CalABLE Board, Sacramento, is searching for the first investment consultant for the state’s Achieving a Better Life Experience plan, said Christina Elliott, board executive director, in an email.
The CalABLE plan is a tax-free savings account for people with disabilities created by the California Legislature in 2015, and is modeled on 529 plans. The plan is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2017.
The chosen consultant would assist in the development of an investment policy, and assist in the review of RFPs for a program manager for the plan. The program manager RFP is scheduled to be issued later this month. The consultant would then advise the board on an ongoing basis.
Proposals are due at 4 p.m. PST on March 6. A decision is expected on March 13, with a contract start date of April 3.
The RFP is available on the state treasurer’s website.
