Alameda County Employees' Retirement Association, Oakland, Calif., is searching for an emerging markets equity manager to run about $200 million, confirmed spokesman Michael Fara in an email.
The manager must have at least $1 billion in total assets under management and a five-year track record managing an emerging markets portfolio for institutional investors.
The funding source could not be learned by press time. The pension fund currently has $1.9 billion invested with four international equity managers benchmarked to the MSCI ACWI ex-U.S. index.
The RFP has not been posted but will be available in the next few days. It will be posted on the $6.6 billion pension fund's website.
Proposals will be due March 3. Investment staff and its general investment consultant, Verus Advisory, are scheduled to submit a list of finalist candidates to the investment committee on May 10 and its board on May 18. The full board is scheduled to vote on a hiring decision at its July 20 meeting.
