SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci on Thursday was named an assistant to President-elect Donald Trump, according to people familiar with the decision.
Mr. Scaramucci, who has served on Mr. Trump's transition team, will have a general advisory role in the White House. He is selling the New York-based hedge fund of funds firm, for which he is also a co-managing partner, to help pave the way for a government position.
Also joining Mr. Scaramucci on Mr. Trump's team are several former executives from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Steven Mnuchin, who was a partner at the firm, was chosen as Treasury secretary, and Goldman Sachs President Gary Cohn was named to the top White House economic post. Alumnus Stephen Bannon will be Mr. Trump's chief strategist.
Mr. Trump also announced Thursday that he will appoint Dina Habib Powell, global head of impact investing for Goldman Sachs and president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, as a presidential assistant and senior counselor for economic initiatives.
