Dominique Carrel-Billiard was named deputy director to general management at Amundi, responsible for the money manager’s merger with Pioneer Investments, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Carrel-Billiard will work full time on the merger, the spokesman said.
Amundi announced Dec. 12 a deal to acquire Pioneer Investments from European banking group UniCredit. The deal will create a money management firm with €1.28 trillion ($1.35 trillion) in assets under management and is expected to close in the first half of 2017.
Mr. Carrel-Billiard was CEO of money manager Financiere de l’Exchiquier, where he handled the rollout of the management company in Europe, an Amundi news release said. Executives at the firm could not be reached for comment by press time.
He is also a former CEO of AXA Investment Managers.
