Tom Rogers was named chief investment officer at Farmers Group Inc., Los Angeles, said Trevor Chapman, spokesman.
He joined as CIO on Dec. 1 and replaced Karyn Williams, who left in July to become managing director and head of client solutions at hedge fund manager Two Sigma Advisers.
Maite Irakoze Baur, head of insurance investments, had been the acting chief investment officer since Ms. Williams' departure and has resumed her previous duties.
Mr. Rogers was previously CIO for Switzerland at Zurich Insurance Group AG. Zurich officials could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
As of Nov. 30, 2015, the Farmers Group Inc. Employees' Pension Plan had $2.9 billion in assets, according to the company's most recent Form 5500 filing.
