Aurora (Colo.) General Employees’ Retirement Plan hired Western Asset Management Co. to manage $50 million in core-plus fixed income, said Tom Connell, pension plan administrator, in an e-mail.
The other finalists were DoubleLine Capital and Voya Investment Management.
Funding will come from PIMCO’s Total Return Fund, which was terminated by the $420 million pension fund for underperformance and personnel changes.
A Pacific Investment Management Co. spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.
