Au King Lun joined Hong Kong-based Value Partners Group on Monday as chief executive officer.
Mr. Au takes on that role from Cheah Cheng Hye, the firm's chairman and co-chief investment officer. Mr. Cheah added the CEO role on an interim basis after Tse “Timothy” Wai Ming stepped down from that position on Nov. 1.
Mr. Tse is currently on gardening leave, said a Value Partners spokeswoman. She said she had no further information on Mr. Tse's plans.
Mr. Au comes to Value Partners from Eastspring Investments, where he served as CEO of that firm's Hong Kong business.
Guy Strapp, the Hong Kong-based chief executive of Eastspring Investments, will “reassume responsibility" for the firm's Hong Kong office, said a spokeswoman for the firm.
Value Partners, a Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed money manager, reported $13.8 billion in assets under management as of Oct 31. Affiliated Managers Group holds a 6% stake in the company.
