Matthew Freedman was named chief investment officer at the $1.8 billion Louisiana School Employees' Retirement System, Baton Rouge, said Charles Bujol, executive director.
He replaces Christopher Saik, who left the pension fund in November to become the first CIO at the $798 million Louisiana Municipal Employees' Retirement System, also in Baton Rouge.
Mr. Freedman, who joins the pension fund on Jan. 3, is an investment analyst at Landseer Advisors. Officials at that firm could not be immediately reached for further information.
