Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., returned a net -2.7% for its $1.2 billion endowment for the fiscal year ended June 30, below its composite benchmark return of -1.5%.
Longer term, the endowment portfolio returned 4.2% for the three years ended June 30, same as its benchmark. Its five-year return was 3.9% vs. 3.4% for its benchmark, and its 10-year annualized return was 3.5%, above its 3.4% benchmark.
The endowment’s allocation as of June 30 was 31.7% developed market equities, 18.1% private equity, 16% absolute return, 8.7% emerging market equities, 7.2% long-short equities, 5.8% U.S. Treasuries, 3.4% natural resources, 3.3% opportunistic credit, 3.2% real estate and 2.6% cash.
