Cesar Zeitouni joined Candriam Investors Group as head of long/short equity, said a spokeswoman for the European money manager, which is owned by New York Life Investment Management.
The position is new. Mr. Zeitouni will “drive the launch of a new strategy in the field of the digitization of the economy," said Fabrice Cuchet, chief investment officer of alternative investments at Candriam, in a news release. Mr. Cuchet added that Mr. Zeitouni has joined “at a time when such expertise is being increasingly regarded by investors as a strategic investment. He is a highly experienced operator in the new technologies sector and in long/short equity.”
Candriam has €100.1 billion ($109.9 billion) in assets under management, including €8 billion in absolute return- and hedge fund strategies.
For the past two years, Mr. Zeitouni had managed a long/short strategy at Exane Asset Management, said the Candriam spokeswoman. Exane executives could not be reached for comment.
