The New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, Albany, made two private equity commitments totaling up to $150 million.
The $107 billion pension fund committed up to $100 million to Trident VII, managed by Stone Point Capital, which focuses on middle-market buyout, growth and startup investments in the financial services industry.
It also committed up to $50 million to Amulet Capital Fund I, managed by Amulet Capital Partners, which concentrates on value-oriented, small/middle-market buyout investments in health-care companies based in North America.
Heidi Brennan, a spokeswoman for the pension fund, said both commitments represent new relationships.
Both commitments were approved by Thomas Lee, chief investment officer and executive director. The CIO has the authority to invest up to $100 million in any private equity fund, limited partnership or other collective investment vehicle without board approval.
