Florida Department of Financial Services, Tallahassee, hired VALIC as record keeper for its $41 million 3121 plan, said Joel Brown, spokesman for Jeff Atwater, Florida’s chief financial officer, in an e-mail.
The department issued an RFP in June because of the pending contract expiration of current record keeper BENCOR. The firm was a finalist along with Empower Retirement and Nationwide Financial.
The 3121 plan is a Social Security alternative plan for temporary, seasonal and part-time employees for the department's “other services” program.
