Nicolas Westphal was named head of technology at the C$254.9 billion ($193.9 billion) Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, Montreal, said Maxime Chagnon, Caisse spokesman.
The position is new. The hiring is part of Caisse's efforts “to reinforce and strengthen our private equity team on an international level, and to improve our knowledge of the technology sector specifically,” Mr. Chagnon said.
Mr. Westphal will work from Caisse's New York office.
Caisse manages assets of Quebec's public provincial and municipal pension funds. It had C$26 billion in assets managed in private equity as of June 30, according to its website.
Mr. Westphal was director of corporate strategy and development at Intuit.
