Wealth managers, family offices and foundations increased their allocations the most during 2016, while asset mangers and insurance companies decreased their holdings by 35.5% and 31.1%, respectively. Since 2012, wealth managers and private pension funds had the most significant growth through June 30. Public and private pension plans allocated a combined $267.1 billion to hedge funds since 2012, with the bulk of those assets invested during 2013.
