Alice Cavalier joined PIMCO as senior vice president on the alternatives team, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new, and Ms. Cavalier is based in London. She focuses on the analysis of stressed and distressed investments in Europe, the spokeswoman said.
Ms. Cavalier's appointment is part of Pacific Investment Management Co.'s alternatives investment expansion, the firm said in a news release. It follows the hiring of Paul Vosper, executive vice president and real estate strategist, in July and Lionel Laurant, executive vice president and distressed credit portfolio manager in January.
“Clients are continuing to diversify in their search for yield, and alternative investment strategies are in high demand,” Mr. Laurant said in the news release. “We see excellent opportunities in the distressed credit market and expect this to continue for some time.”
PIMCO manages about $26 billion in alternative investment strategies.
Ms. Cavalier was a director at Bayside Capital, an affiliate of private equity firm H.I.G. Capital. Spokesmen at Bayside Capital were not available to comment by press time.
