Melissa Hodgman was named associate enforcement director at the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
She succeeds Stephen L. Cohen, who left in June.
Ms. Hodgman joined the enforcement division in 2008 and has led its cross-border working group that deals with international issues. “Melissa has supervised and investigated a broad range of noteworthy and first-of-their-kind cases across the spectrum of the securities industry and involving misconduct located around the world,” enforcement director Andrew J. Ceresney said in a statement.
Before joining the SEC, Ms. Hodgman was in private law practice.
