University of Illinois' university and foundation endowments returned a combined -2.2% for the fiscal year ended June 30, said a foundation news release.
A benchmark return and breakout of asset class returns were not available.
For the three and five years ended June 30, the combined endowment pool with more than $2.3 billion in assets returned 5% and 5.9%, respectively.
Urbana-based foundation and Champaign-based university officials could not immediately be reached for additional information.
