Tim Recker was named chief investment officer of the James Irvine Foundation, San Francisco, said a blog post by Don Howard, the foundation’s president and CEO.
In the post, Mr. Howard said current CIO John Jenks announced his retirement plans earlier this year, and “we have worked hard to find a worthy replacement.”
The foundation has about $2 billion in assets.
Mr. Recker is currently the managing director for private equity and real assets at the Regents of the University of California, where he leads a team of 10 people and manages a $9 billion portfolio. The University of California has more than $90 billion in endowment and retirement assets.
Mr. Howard was not immediately available for comment. Julie Lydon, a spokeswoman for the University of California, said in an e-mail that a search is underway for Mr. Recker’s replacement.
