The House of Representatives approved late Wednesday a spending bill that funds the federal government through Dec. 9 by a 342-85 vote. The Senate approved the measure earlier Wednesday by a vote of 72-26.
The Obama administration supports the bill, but called on Congress to enact full-year appropriations bills for the rest of fiscal year 2017, which begins Oct. 1. A White House statement said that the administration was “disappointed” that the short-term spending bill, called a continuing resolution, kept a “problematic” provision that bars the SEC from requiring companies to better disclose political spending.
