Neil Summers joined Manulife Asset Management as head of Europe, Middle East and Africa client service and sales support.
The position is new, and Mr. Summers is based in London. He reports to Lauren Fleming, head of global distribution services, and leads Manulife’s initiative to build a team to service and support institutional and wholesale clients across the EMEA region.
A Manulife spokesman said Mr. Summers started Sept. 19. He joins a 43-member team with $2.9 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
“This is an important hire, enabling us to work in close partnership with institutions and wholesale investors, as we continue to provide them with investment capabilities that help address complex issues in uncertain markets,” said Claude Chene, global head of distribution at Manulife Asset Management, in a news release.
Mr. Summers was head of client service-EMEA at Aberdeen Asset Management. An Aberdeen spokesman said Mr. Summers is not being replaced as his responsibilities are being shared among the 29-member EMEA team.
